If you’ve gotten your hands on our premiere print issue that came out just last week, then you’ve seen our stunning feature on 11 of our favorite influential women in Nashville. While society seems to believe that one’s “influence” is directly correlated to the number of followers they have on Instagram, we chose a different (and dare I say, authentic) approach when choosing our Leading Ladies. The women featured in our summer series, The Women’s Edit, are women who are true trailblazers in our beautiful, booming city. We wanted to highlight women who, like us, are creatives seeking to add more life and love to our community. The Women’s Edit is a salute to those making their own way, setting trends we want to follow and shifting how Nashville is viewed by the outside world. This forward-thinking group of women makes us want to do more, to be better and to challenge ourselves to tackle something new.

So, who is our first Lady of the Moment?

Melissa Schleicher: Owner of Parlour 3 Salon Group and Celebrity Hair & Makeup Artist

The Nashville Edit: What is your signature beauty look for day and night?

Melissa Schleicher: I always have middle part with my hair and usually beach waves… or maybe a tighter wave. My makeup is usually the same, and I just darken my eyes for night.

TNE: Are you a morning bird, or a night owl?

MS: I am 100% a night owl and could stay up late watching Shameless or Parenthood any given night of the week. I’m also most creative at night!

TNE: What are some of your favorite products in your daily makeup bag?

MS: I’m always changing it up! Right now I’m loving Chanel Les beige foundation, Boldly Bare Lip Liner by Mac, Marc Jacobs mascara, Laura Geller Baked Bronzer, Laura Geller highlighter in Gilded Honey, Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect, and Kim K lipstick. I’m always trying new things, so that changes a lot!

TNE: Where do you shop in Nashville for all of your favorite beauty products?

MS: I do a lot of shopping online for beauty, but I do like Sephora and Ulta. We also carry all of my favorite hair care products at Parlour 3, Barbour 3, and Hunter Paige.

TNE: You’re a very busy woman. What is your go-to lunch for a busy day in Music City?

MS: I’m going to be totally honest and tell you that my lunches usually come from the Circle K next door to Parlour 3 when I’m home and at the salon. Lunchables anyone? 😉 Sometimes Hunter and Cameron (her daughter and son-in-law) get me to venture out into town, but I’m not a big foodie. I do love Monell’s – it’s a Nashville staple!

TNE: What do you think of Brentwood’s transformation over the years?

MS: I think Brentwood has changed only for the better. Many businesses have been able to maintain through the changes, and we have so many new neighbors. I love that there are new restaurants and places to socialize.

TNE: What is your advice on looking and feeling your best?

MS: My advice is to try new things, shake it up. Pull out your old, tiny curling iron and give yourself a wild set for the day. Try clothing and accessories that are different than your norm.

TNE: Share with us the best advice you’ve ever received.

MS: My grandmother, Darcy, was my person … the best advice she gave me was just the example of her life. She always instilled in us to be kind and to give to others. She taught us generosity by giving Christmas to families who couldn’t afford it and helping anyone in need, even strangers. She did all of this with joy and laughter and she loved her family hard. I try to live my life by this.
