Some people just have an incredible presence no matter what they’re wearing. It’s instantly noticeable and most often has more to do with attitude and body language than anything else. But, a fashionable wardrobe definitely comes into play as these individuals have usually figured out what works for them – and use the knowledge to choose well when building or editing personal ensembles. Our CLOSET ENVY series is all about getting up close and personal with these personalities, and (of course) sharing the best details with you.

It has been said that fashion fades, but style is eternal. Amelia Burnett, the name behind the immensely popular Instagram account, Amelia Styles, exudes European sophistication in every aspect of her life. She exemplifies the very definition of style as her signature effortless look bleeds through in every detail. From her home to her closet, the details are unmistakably and simplistically, Amelia. Through her online platforms (Instagram, online shop, and website), she brings her passion for capturing and sharing what inspires her most to followers and friends alike. As a successful digital creator, her curated collection of content is geared to inspire the modern woman, one who appreciates classic, chic style. Residing in Nashville with her husband Carson, daughter Meriwether (we love the name), and white kitty appropriately named, Pearl, the foursome spends their time together gardening, doing DIY projects, and most notably having epic dance parties in the kitchen. We were lucky enough to get an up-close and personal look into the elegant personal wardrobe of the self-proclaimed ice cream enthusiast, Amelia Styles

IN THE CLOSET

Hero Items: Tailored blazers, coats, a classic handbag, and a nice pair of shoes.

Daily Uniform: I stick to classic staples no matter the season. For winter, a cashmere turtleneck, my Levi’s, and tennis shoes or boots. I’ve always had an affinity for outerwear and I love layering a classic coat to polish things up a bit.

My Look: I’m naturally drawn to understated, classic silhouettes, but I like to keep it practical, neutral, and minimal. I love feminine details here and there – and adding a fun accessory or two.

Closet You Would Most Like To Have: I think I’d enjoy Lauren Hutton’s wardrobe most, especially since she’s curated her classic closet over many decades.

Best Closet Organization Trick: Edit often. To keep yourself from hanging on to pieces you don’t love, ask yourself these questions when browsing your closet, “Would I buy this today?” or “Am I excited to wear this?” If the answer is no, say your goodbyes.

Hanging Up: Olka Hangers from The Container Store – wooden hangers for outerwear garments.

Item You Will Own Forever: Chanel 2.55 Handbag.

Look That Will Never Go Out Of Style: A fit and flare cotton dress with slides.

Packing Essentials: Layers! I always pack buildable outfits, so I’m prepared for most any weather condition. Scarves, cotton sweaters, tees, and a couple of shoe options are the best places to start. Then, finish packing for planned outings from there.

Capsule Collection: A white tee, straight Levi’s, Burberry Trench, Gucci Loafers, and a good tote.

Trend You Are Most Excited To See Go: I haven’t been able to come around to the bulky dad shoe trend, ha!

Collector: I adore collecting vintage and estate pieces for interior decorating. I’ve held onto certain items for over a decade, just waiting for the perfect spot. Chairs tend to be my weakness.

PERSONAL STYLE

Online Shopping: I love browsing Zara, Net-A-Porter, MANGO, Sézane, & Other Stories, and Shopbop. I love Everlane and J.Crew for basics.

Spring Crush: Ann Mashburn and Pamela Munson.

Go-To Designers: Chanel, Gucci, and Celine.

Best Style Tip: Style really is quite simple – wear pieces you love and feel confident in. For me, this means also being comfortable when running around town with my toddler. When I can achieve style and comfort in one look, I feel like I can conquer the day.

Scent: Dioramour by Christian Dior.

Accessory + How To Rock It: A draped sweater over my shoulders for extra warmth and a layered effect without the bulk. I love an effortless, undone look so I try to offset it a bit.

Day Bag: Either my J.LOWERY bucket bag or a roomy tote for toddler snacks and things.

Evening Bag: Oscar de la Renta tortoise patent leather clutch.

Shoes: Adidas, YSL, Soludos, Chanel.

Fashion Icon: Jean Shrimpton or Jackie Onassis.

Always Bulk Buying: White tees.

Favorite Local Places To Shop: I adore antique shopping in person more than anything – I enjoy estate sales most, but I go to Gas Lamp often if I’m looking for something specific because they have such a wide selection.

Jewelry: I love inexpensive statement pieces to play around with from various brands, but my everyday jewelry items are by Tiffany & Co, Yearly & Co. (a local Nashville maker) BENT By Courtney (a jewelry designer out of GA), and my gold signet.

Wardrobe Wishlist: A petite gold watch.

Trend You Are Loving Lately: Monochromatic.

Best Splurge: I can honestly say I’ve been obsessed with every piece I’ve splurged on. This may be because I take a lot of time to evaluate whether or not to purchase. A good tip for splurge items – buy a similar but inexpensive style of the item before you buy. If you see yourself reaching for the piece often, then splurging will be worth it!

Loungewear: I love my & Other Stories lounge set and my LAKE pajamas I got recently – they feel like butter!
