From inside our latest issue, where we had artists such as Kelleigh Bannen and Aubrie Sellers showcase the best of today’s throwback fashion with vintage finds. We have the inside scoop from trusted hairstylist Kaylee Wilson and world-renowned makeup artist Colleen Runné, who has worked with many high profile celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Sara Evans, and Brooke Shields to name a few, on just how they recreated those retro looks and where they got their inspiration from. 

 

KELLEIGH BANNEN LOOK #1

Hair by Kaylee Wilson: 

My muse, as she has been for so many others, was Pattie Boyd. More specifically Pattie Boyd’s cover shoots for Vogue in the ’70s. As a very talented model and photographer, she shaped a lot of what I think of iconic beauty.

We used Aveda Pure Abundance volumizing powder. Used Hot Tools curling iron and set her curls with Kristin Ess setting clips. Aveda’s Control Force hairspray to hold and Leonor Greyl Baume Bois de Rose to sculpt the individual pieces.

Hair by Kaylee Wilson: 

We started with her hair wet, her natural hair texture inspired me. She was so perfectly Carly Simon early 70s when Carly embraced her waves, gladiator sandals, and James Taylor. We moisturized her hair with K18 Mask.  Then we used OUAI wave spray on her wet hair. We used a Dyson Blowdryer with the diffuser attachment to dry it and keep her natural texture intact. Aveda air control to keep the volume up and Aveda’s Defining Whip to define the texture.
